Earlier this year I received one of my dream clients, and she contacted me at the perfect time. She was moving into a newly built home, and already working with a local builder, but there were still changes she felt would further personalize her home.

When our long-time client reached out to us for an expansion only 1 year after we installed her first counseling practice, we were thrilled. She initially moved in 2021 into a beautiful space with exposed brick, where she would house 2 clinicians, a massage therapist, a yoga instructor, and place for group therapy.

You do not have space for things you are not using. Get rid of any clothing, furniture, or housewares you are not using. If you so happen to be in a transitional space, and you will possibly need more furniture down the road, invest in a storage unit, it will be worth your sanity.

Summer always calls for a little light heartedness. Select lighter weight and colored drapes to soften you look. You can also go more casual with linen drapes in your bedroom. Of course, if you décor calls for a formal look, you can always select a lighter colored silk.

Take a look at what you wear on a daily basis. Is it mostly black or are you the eccentric friend that always shows up in neon colors. Use hints from how you dress to provide a color scheme for your home. I’ve met so many fun eccentric people, who think they need a straight laced traditional space, when that could not be further from who they actually are.

Renovations give you an opportunity to fully customize your home, just like you would for a new build, with some structural limitations in mind. Depending on how far you want to go, you may be able to change the entire footprint of your home.

Tis the season for Christmas movies and snuggles. This throw is sure to keep your lady warm, and her home looking stylish. If you know her color scheme at home, choose a color that pairs well.

Pillow covers are perfect, because they allow you to change your look from season to season. I purchase down feather pillow inserts, so I can have flexibility with my color scheme throughout the year. Pillow covers are also easier to store and wash. They don’t take up much space. A quick tip though, always buy your inserts 1 or 2 sizes bigger than your pillow cover for a fuller look.

The most popular cabinet door styles right now are The Shaker, European Slab, and Glass. The shaker style is the most common because its simplicity, offers both a traditional, modern, and farmhouse design. It seems to appeal to most people. The European Slab Door became popular post-World War II, and has currently been making a comeback because of the sleek, clean, and simple design it offers.

It’s kind of because I worked in a Tile Kitchen and Bath Showroom for a couple of years on my design journey. There are so many options and combinations. Since the living room can set the tone for the rest of the house, most of my clients prefer to start with this room.
